Merry Cemetery :-)

Merry cemetery sounds strange, right? In Polish culture, it’s hard to imagine that cemetery might be a merry place. Our graveyards are full of black or gray gravestones, combine it with narrow lanes and forgotten tombs and you receive very sad atmosphere.

It’s not the case of Săpânța. Travel there and You will find quite crowded, yet colorful cemetery. All tombstones are blue, made of wood and “with naïve paintings describing, in an original and poetic manner, the people who are buried there as well as scenes from their lives”.

A visit here is an unforgettable experience. My advice to you if you happen to be here – give yourself time to walk around and really (I mean really) feel the very different perspective.

Death is certain, but yet it does not mean that you cannot have a merry tombstone with a funny story about yourself 🙂
